A few years ago I came across the term ‘evolutionary friends’ in a course on feminine power by Claire Zammit and Katherine Woodward Thomas.
Over your life friendships will come and go and come and stay.
And then once in a while you’ll discover that you have an evolutionary friend.
Evolutionary friends are those amazing souls who’re prepared to see you through the personal transformation changes in your life. These friends have boundless integrity and are prepared to go on the journey with you and to hold you and themselves accountable for following your dreams and becoming the person you’d like to be. Evolutionary friends help you find and stand in your strength and power and cheer at your successes. And they’re prepared to have the difficult conversations when you fail or slip into old behaviours.
They’re still there to make you laugh and give you comfort like any good friend, but they’re also your partners in mutual growth and personal evolution.
They reflect things outside your awareness, calling you on your self-destructive patterns, holding you to your resolutions to change. My evolutionary friends are not afraid of difficult conversations to keep our friendship clear and deepen the connection.
They help me get engaged from multiple perspectives – not just my own. And we hold each other accountable to act from our strengths and in integrity with the future we’re committed to creating.
Before I had heard the term evolutionary friends, two friends and I had got together to form The True Bliss Company.
We all felt as though we had more to offer life and that life had more to offer us. So we set off to explore what was out there, to find things that inspired us and to bring other women along on the bold, authentic fun adventures. We’ve done some amazing things, some life-changing things, some bold things and some hilarious things. And yes we’ve been inspired. All of us have changed what we do and how we show up in the world.
Through all the mess and manifesting we’ve kept our sense of humour and our sense of purpose. Life is meant to be lived fully, every day, every moment filled with joy and love. Don’t live with regret. As the saying goes…
“Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, champagne in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming ‘WOO HOO what a ride!’”
Dare to risk life while you’re here! Go on I dare you.
The True Bliss Company is holding a cosy space for a small group of women who dare to try a few different things on Sunday 16th August. We’ll be exploring mindfulness and having a lot of fun trying out some easy everyday practices. Some of these involve crochet hooks and pens – really. And standard practice for the True Bliss Company is to provide a yummy meal and great conversation. Interested? Have a look HERE for more …
